Dress for Your Day

Dress for Your Day PNG.png

All Colleagues are asked to dress appropriately for the American Fidelity business environment and their day. Keep your workday schedule in mind while dressing for your day, as you are expected to use good judgment.

Make sure to ask your supervisor or HR if you have any questions about the dress for your day policy.

  • Modest, clean, business casual or business professional clothing with no holes, frays, patches or extra length is expected.
  • For Home Office Colleagues, AF-sponsored T-shirts can be worn on days your schedule allows, such as when you do not have meetings with guests or a presentation to give.
  • Jeans and athletic shoes may be worn. Casual clothing, such as workout clothes, shorts and rubber-soled flip flops, are not appropriate.
  • Refrain from clothing with offensive language or pictures. If there is a question on a garment’s appropriateness, err on the conservative side.
  • Field Colleagues, Branch Office Colleagues and Colleagues representing American Fidelity to the public should reflect an image of professionalism. Business professional clothing should be worn and clothing should be conservative and appropriate at all times.
  • Colleagues are expected to practice daily hygiene and good grooming habits as set forth in further detail below. Hair should be clean, combed and neatly trimmed or arranged.
  • For Officers with the title AVP, VP, SVP or EVP and those Colleagues who work in Field Sales Positions, body piercing jewelry should not be visible while at work; however, piercings worn on the ear are acceptable.
  • Facial hair for Colleagues who work in Field Sales Positions is not an acceptable grooming practice. Facial hair for officers with the title AVP, VP, SVP or EVP is acceptable so long as it is neatly trimmed and does not exceed ½ inch in length. All other Colleagues may have facial hair if it is neatly trimmed and groomed. When working with our Customers, Home Office Colleagues must follow the field policy.

The Dress Code Policy applies to all Colleagues. However, we recognize that a religious practice and/or medical condition may necessitate an accommodation and such accommodation may be allowed on a case-by-case basis pursuant to applicable law. Please direct accommodation requests to your manager and/or CHR Talent Management.
